Research

  • I am currently most interested in exploring the social nature and scope of human empathy, compassion, altruism, and spiritual/religious experience via a variety of empirical, qualitative, and theoretical methods. I am particularly interested in examining the various (and often problematic) ways in which empathy, altruism and religion have been conceptualized and explained in many of the major schools of contemporary psychology and psychotherapy (e.g., social psychology, humanism, cognitive-behaviorism, and evolutionary psychology).
