Applied Social Psychology
This specialty focuses on the individual and his or her social context and how they relate to it. Topics include motivation, traits, sense of self, psychological adjustment, behavior change, socialization, pro-social behavior, attitudes and attitude change, person perception, and group processes. Applied Social Psychology students specialize in organizational behavior or other such areas. Student graduating with a Ph.D. from this program area usually find employment in colleges, universities, businesses, and research organizations. Social psychology can also be applied to many other areas such as law, medicine (clinical assessment), and mass media (advertising and marketing).

problem-solving, communication, control, leadership, motivation, and
change.
552. Applied Social Psychology (3). Overview of domains in which social
psychological theory and research have been applied in field settings.
555. (Psych-Soc) Group Dynamics (3). Examination of theories and research on small group processes and mass behavior.
640R. Seminar in Personality (3). Intensive analysis of selected current topics in personality research and theory.
650R. Seminar in Social Psychology (3). Variable topics examined
including attitude change, social cognition, prosocial and antisocial
behavior, group dynamics, and organizational psychology.
655. (Psych-Soc 630) Attitude Measurement and Change (3). Focus on both
individual and mass persuasion through attitude development, change,
and assessment.
678R. Seminar in Mathematical Psychology (3). Investigation of variable
topics including multivariate statistical methods, techniques for
graphical data analysis, and mathematical modeling.
