Student Organizations and Resources

Psi Chi

Psi Chi (pronounced "sigh-kye") is the National Honor Society in Psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests, and who meet the minimum qualifications.

(From “What is Psi Chi?” http://www.psichi.org/about/what_is_psichi.asp)

Psi Chi applications were due October 1 for fall semester.

If you have been accepted for fall semester, come to the Psychology front desk in 1001 SWKT to fill out two more forms and pay a $45 fee with either cash or check.

The deadline for Psi Chi dues is October 30

For questions email Joshua Kirton at psichibyu@gmail.com

Psych Association

Even if you do not yet qualify for Psi Chi, the BYU Psychology Association provides many great opportunities for psychology students, such as help with getting involved in research and preparing for graduate school. Among the many activities sponsored by the association are fun social activities and monthly faculty forums where students can better get to know their professors. The association works closely with Psi Chi, so even if you never make it into the honor society you can still have plenty of opportunities for participation.

Intuition: The BYU Undergraduate Journal of Psychology

Intuition is an undergraduate academic journal which is managed, edited, and designed by an editorial board composed of undergraduate students, a faculty advisor, and other faculty who assist in the reviewing process. Intuition seeks to publish psychological essays, reviews, research, studies, and/or creative works by psychology undergraduates.

Intuition allows students to showcase their work and gain publication experience while also creating an incentive for students to perform research and to create. With regard to the editors, Intuition gives students valuable experience reviewing and editing manuscripts, and learning how to be critical reviewers and consumers of psychological literature. In addition, Intuition allows all involved students to network with faculty and other high-achieving students through the publication experience. Come join in our effort to further the study of psychology at Brigham Young University.
