Hannah Brugger

Our spotlight this week is Hannah Brugger!

  • Hannah (she/her) is a senior in our program from Meridian, ID, who also has a minor in anthropology. She loves hiking, rock-climbing, and doing anything outdoors. She also writes poetry–check out her poetry instagram: @hkb_poetry
  • Hannah volunteers as a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention instructor, as preventing death by suicide is a passion of hers and she is always willing to help anyone who may need it.
  • Hannah also volunteers for The Refuge Utah, an organization specializing in advocacy for survivors of sexual assault. As a Rape Crisis Team Member, Hannah works with survivors on the rape crisis hotline and offers support by meeting victims in the hospital immediately following the attack.
  • When asked about a class that has greatly impacted her, Hannah said: “Can I say every one? Each course has impacted me for different reasons! One in particular though was Health Psychology with Dr. Holt-Lunstad. This course was taught on a study abroad, traveling to Blue Zones (areas of the world where people live longer, healthier lives). We were in three European countries living with locals, it really showed me how beautiful our bodies are, the importance of relationships, and how humans are more alike than different. HIGHLY recommend it!”
  • Upon graduating from BYU this April, Hannah will be attending Gonzaga University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, with an end goal of working in suicide prevention and crisis response among varying populations, as well as training others on how to respond to mental health crisis.

We are grateful for people like you, Hannah! All the best in the next phase of your journey!

If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health crisis, we encourage you to call or text 988, visit LiveOn.org, or contact BYU's CAPS. These are great local resources. The hotline for The Refuge is 801-356-2511.
