Alexa Smith is a senior in the psych program from Draper, UT! While here at BYU, Alexa is also minoring in Portuguese and Family Life, and is a part of several extracurriculars including the BYU Advocate Service for Sexual Assault Survivors (SASAS). Alexa says that her jobs=her hobbies and those include coaching/instructing tennis, skiing, and gymnastics. A fun fact about Alexa is that she served in Brazil and went on a study abroad trip to Portugal! She says that traveling has always made her gain a deeper appreciation for the world, specifically learning from different perspectives. When asked about a psychology position that has greatly impacted her, Alexa said, “I completed an academic internship in the Lakeridge Counseling Center in the fall, now I'm volunteering weekly at both Utah County locations of the Children's Justice Center. Working with minorities, immigrants, underprivileged and struggling youth has been life-changing.” After graduating, Alexa is planning on going to graduate school. She is debating on doing school or clinical psychology, and possibly even social work. There are just so many great routes to choose from!
