Biography

Melissa Jones received her bachelor's degree at BYU in Psychology and received her master's and doctoral degrees in Counseling Psychology at the University of Maryland. She began working at BYU in Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) in 2006 and became a psychology professor in 2016. Dr. Jones' area of focus is training clinicians in the clinical psychology doctorate program. She also teaches women's studies, psychology of gender, and psychopathology classes.

Research Interests

Dr. Jones' research interests include therapy outcomes and processes, as well as topics addressing culture and gender. She loves studying people and relationships and finds purpose in helping people live their best lives while spreading compassion for those who struggle with mental illnesses. She is part of the Psychotherapy Process and Outcome Research Lab at BYU. In her lab with several other professors, Dr. Jones is currently studying online treatments for PTSD and analyzing qualitative data about therapist burnout.
