Rebekka Matheson

Associate Professor, Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience

Biography

Rebekka Matheson is the associate director of the Neuroscience Center at BYU. She graduated from the Neuroscience Center at BYU in 2006. She went to medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where her clinical work emphasized neurology, psychiatry, and addiction medicine. In addition, she took graduate courses in the neurosciences through the colleges of Neurobiology & Anatomy and Pharmacology & Physiology. In years out for research between the course and clinical years of medical school, she researched the neuroanatomy of reward circuitry and deep brain stimulation for psychiatric disease.

Research Interests

Rebekka Matheson does not currently operate a research lab. Her past research used electrophysiology techniques to learn about neural circuitry of the reward system. She is part of the cognitive and behavioral neuroscience area of the psychology department.
