If you’re interested in a career in counseling and would like to work in a high-demand field helping to improve the quality of life of individuals with disabilities, the University of Northern Colorado’s Rehabilitation Counseling program may be for you!

This two-year CACREP accredited master’s program consists of coursework and supervised clinical and practicum experiences. Graduate students receive specialized training in: social, psychological and medical aspects of disabilities, assessment and job placement of people with disabilities, counseling theories and techniques, evaluating research in the field of counseling, and ultimately improving the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Upon completion, you will be certified as a Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and have the qualifications necessary for licensure as a professional counselor (LPC). After graduation, you can begin working as a rehabilitation counselor, helping people deal with the negative personal, social, and vocational effects of disabilities and chronic illnesses.

Just recently, UNC’s Rehabilitation Counseling program was awarded a substantial grant from the U.S. Department of Education, which provides significant funding for students pursuing a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. With this extensive financial support, students have the opportunity to earn a master’s degree in counseling without acquiring thousands of dollars in student loan debt. Please see the recent press release for more information.

The program’s course format offers online and on-campus courses in order to best meet the needs of students. For students who are unable to attend classes that are offered on-campus, those classes can be attended virtually as of Fall of 2021. This allows students to achieve a graduate degree in a growing field without re-locating or spending countless hours commuting to campus.
