Psych 496R Capstone: Internship Experience

Experience Description:

  • Capstone course working as an intern in a psychology-related field of interest
  • Students are expected to work a total of 135 hours outside of regular class time

Getting Started:

  • Complete PSYCH 307 308, 309, 310 and have 90+ credits
  • Contact fhssinternships@byu.edu to set up an internship
  • Apply and get hired for an internship of your choice
    • The FHSS Internship Fair usually occurs during Winter semesters and is a hub for finding available opportunities
  • Get your internship approved through this BYU application: Internships for Credit (byu.edu)
  • Register for the internship class
  • Apply for any needed internship grant funding
  • Complete internship hours (135 work hours) and the online internship course assignments

Exit Exam:

  • All graduating seniors enrolled in a capstone course are required to take an exit exam through the Psychology Department. This exam is not for a grade and is strictly for departmental purposes. Capstone instructors should inform their students about the exit exam requirement, but if you have any questions contact Student Support Services (1003 KMBL, psychservices@byu.edu, 801-422-5356).
