Sarah Worthington

Coming to BYU from the great state of Virginia, Sarah Worthington is a senior in the psychology major with a minor in statistics. In her free time, Sarah enjoys numerous relaxing hobbies, including painting, traveling, photography, reading, and spending time with her husband in nature. While Sarah’s happy place is the beach (a little tricky to get to out here in landlocked Utah), here at BYU, she found her home in the psych major as a research assistant in Dr. Jones’ research lab studying health psychology and as a TA for Psych 306 and Psych 111. Once she graduates, Sarah looks forward to pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology with a health emphasis, with an eye toward impacting the way we see health issues like obesity and stress.

Sarah’s favorite class in the major was Psych 306 - Psychology of Gender. Sarah explains: “The topics have been so applicable to my life, and the guest speakers are so impactful. Honestly, it’s also been one of the most spiritual classes I have had at BYU, as our guided discussions have helped me learn more about those around me and the unique issues they face. It has also helped me connect with the LGBTQ community on campus and has allowed me to gain greater empathy for their very difficult decisions. This is honestly a class that I can say changed my life.”
