Maryn Rolfson

Maryn Rolfson of Edmonton, Canada is a senior in the psychology major with minors in global women’s studies and sociology! Maryn keeps busy by participating in Global Women's Studies Honor Society, Psi Chi, BYU Pre Law Student Association, and BYU Democrats, and she always enjoys a good hike, camping trip, or karaoke night. Once she graduates, Maryn plans to begin law school in Fall 2022. She feels that the psychology major has given her great opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of how people understand one another; she believes that this will be very helpful to her in her future career as a lawyer, where she hopes to be a strong advocate for populations marginalized along lines of gender, race, or citizenship. Maryn has thoroughly enjoyed participating in research projects in the psychology department as well. Working in Dr. Birmingham’s research lab, Maryn is currently leading a study on race-related stress on ethnically homogenous campuses. Maryn has greatly appreciated her time in Dr. Birmingham’s lab, saying: “Dr. Birmingham is an extremely patient and concerned mentor. I’m so grateful that she gives her research assistants freedom to explore our own passions in social psychology.”
