Student Support Advisor: Carla Castillo

We would like to give a warm welcome to one of our newest advisors, Carla Castillo! Carla is from Santiago, Chile and is a psych major here at BYU. While here at BYU, Carla is also completing a minor in sociology and working as an RA in Dr. Duraccio’s sleep lab. In her free time, Carla loves dancing, photography, hiking, reading psychology books, and rewatching any movie/TV show. A fun fact about Carla is that she was originally supposed to come to Utah for just eight months to learn English and then go back to Chile to go to college, however, four years later, she is still here in Provo about to graduate college!

When asked about a psych class that she enjoyed, Carla said, “I would recommend EVERYONE (not only Psychology majors) take Psych 342 (Abnormal Psychology). You are taught the causes, symptoms, and treatments of many psychological disorders, such as anxiety, eating, mood, and personality disorders. I absolutely LOVED this class because it opened my eyes to how mental disorders work. Now, I'm more empathetic toward those that suffer from them.” After graduating, Carla would like to pursue either an MFT or MSW so that she can be a therapist and work with families.

If you would like to meet with Carla, stop by our office at 1003 KMBL!
