Student Support Advisor: Emma Curtis

For this week’s Psych spotlight, join us in welcoming one of our new Student Support advisors, Emma Curtis! Emma (she/her) is a sophomore in the Psych major from Gilbert, AZ. When she’s not studying, she loves *light* hiking, photography, and pretty much anything with friends! A fun fact about her is that she has fallen down two mountains in her lifetime, but has never broken a bone.

When asked what originally drew her to the Psych major, Emma said, “I've always been passionate about mental health and I've had a lot of friends struggle on that front. These friends have always come to me in times of trouble and crisis, so it seemed natural to go into a major that I'm not only passionate about, but that I've already been applying in my day to day life!” Once she completes her undergrad degree, she plans on being a therapist/school counselor. Of this choice, she shared: “I honestly didn't think of this until one time I was talking to my dad, and he said that he thought this path would really fit me. Then I went on my mission and I was able to continue learning about the ins and outs of living with mental illnesses. Now I hope to be able to help people struggling with mental health with actual training to back that up!”

Welcome to the Student Support team, Emma!
